Explanation
-요 turns a fragment into a polite utterance: it rides on a noun, adverb, particle or short answer that is not a full sentence (저요, 글쎄요, 빨리요, 집에서요, 네, 지금이요). After a consonant it is -이요 (화단이요). It carries no meaning of its own, only the same 존댓말 register as the -아/어요 ending. 이거요? 제 거예요. — This? It's mine.
