눈치 is a catch-all word in Korean that can be used in many different contexts. Essentially it refers to the ability of someone to determine how they should behave in any given situation. This includes their ability to read a room, to empathize with others, to determine what propriety would dictate, and to quickly react to unexpected circumstances, socially or other. Because of this 눈치 encompasses many smaller concepts in English and can be translated in many different ways. 눈치 is also a cultural concept that is one of the keys to understanding Korean society.
